Client: Self Initiated
Role: Design, animation and art direction
Here are my designs for '36 Days of Type'. This year, I wanted to focus on creating a motion heavy set. I've compiled them into this short showreel to show off my creations. They were created in Blender and AfterEffects.
'36 Days of Type' is a project that invites designers, illustrators and visual artists to express their unique interpretation of the letters and numbers of the Latin alphabet. For 36 days, each participant will create and upload their own style of letterforms.
When creating these letterforms, I started with a basic mesh that was then developed into the abstract forms required for the design. This approach was then developed by using geometry nodes, modifiers and materials to achieve a final rendered . I then animated the movements and effects to finish off the final animation.
For this project, I wanted to experiment with shader development and using different lighting systems to achieve new results. I started with primitive shaders and then pushed them further to achieve complex real-time materials which utilized bumps, textures and Chromatic aberration.
As this was a self-initiated project, I was able to push my research and development skills further, adding more techniques to my ever-expanding tool kit.
I was able to create purely geometry node based animations, advance my knowledge on simulations and explore compositing effects. once each letter was completed, I compiled each outcome into a mini showcase, allowing me to build up my video editing style.
