Client: Anime & Chill
Role: Branding, Animation and Asset creation
Sector: Culture/Entertainment/Community
Anime and Chill is an community-based entertainment brand with the aim to make anime and gaming accessible, safe and inclusive to all! I worked with the core team to help them create a bespoke brand that appeals to their needs. This is a digital-first brand. They boast over 6000 members who actively participate in numerous events over the year.
One key area of focus for this brand was for it to be scalable. The core team wanted to make the 'A&C' as integral as the full wordmark. After several iterations, we created the two variants which utilized the heart and katana motifs.
Building the brand around a subgenre of anime and gaming, allowed us to pay homage. The katana and hearts were symbolic to various shows and manga titles.
Where anime is at the heart of this brand, we used 3D graphics to reflect manga panels on to the logo. This allows for the logo to be integrated into the various parties A&C host. The graphic here uses Naruto panels which was use at a Naruto themed event.
After researching into A&C's intentions as a brand, we established that the focus was to bridge London culture with Japanese anime and gaming culture. The overlap we identified was neon-themed visuals. This became the driving force for the colour palette. We created a harmonious palette that pays homage to kawaii aesthetics as well as more traditional Japanese arcades
On top of the primary logos, I was tasked with creating some alternative logos which are reminiscent of other anime shows. These logos will be used purely as decoration to support the primary logo.
Where the Anime & Chill events are a community event, it is a hotspot for photographs and selfies. The A&C team used these alternative logos as a base for their logo wall.
