'Durag Motorsports' is a brand fronted by Car Enthusiast and racer Kay Adu. Kay is a seasoned expert in the JDM car and motorsport scene. As he has started to venture into the world racing and stunt driving, we looked to develop his personal brand 'Durag Motorsports'.
The Durag Motorsports brand was always set to be a wordmark as Kay wanted to pay homage to the racing brands that have come before. We looked at a few directions before determining that this sci-fi inspired typography was his favourite. The logo design works for his use cases as it could be outlined and etched onto various surfaces.
While working with Kay, his personality really helped shape the brand. We looked at creating some bespoke social media graphics that were reminiscent of the racing games from the early 2000's including 'Need For Speed' and 'Midnight Club'. These graphics can be seen on his Instagram profile.
As part of developing the 'Durag Motorsports' brand, I helped Kay create a media kit to help him gain sponsorships for his brand. We looked at creating a more tailored deck that targeted key areas of growth in the sector, Kay as an personality and his illustrious Nissan Skyline GTR R32.
Underneath Kay's main brand, he has also launched a lifestyle brand called "90's Baby" which is heavily inspired by Y2K aesthetics and Japanese car culture mixed with London swagger.
